On May 12, 2005, over dinner with business partner and FBI informant Lori Mody, Rep. William J. Jefferson (D-La.) furtively scrawled the letter "c" on a sheet of paper, and next to it wrote some numbers indicating that he was demanding a much larger personal stake in an African business deal than previously agreed to.
When is Jefferson going to get a fucking clue? caught redhanded he still denies everything? the marion barry defense of blaming everyone for setting him up but not taking responsibility for the fact there's an endless amount of evidence of his bribes. not too mention a video tape.
although, my dad pointed out one interesting difference… Jeffereson trying to setting friends/family up with 'good deals' is an abuse of his office. What Cunningham did was an abuse of Congress… Jefferson is a total dipshit, and will hopefully go away to jail for a long time, but he wasn't giving out federal contracts in return for bribes…
Regardless, JEFFERSON SHOULD STEP DOWN IMMEDIATELY. he is an embarrassment to Congress, Democrats, the Congressional Black Caucus, and himself.
